Dragon Soul: Raid Loot (PTR)

Patch 4.3 it’s coming to our world with high expectations. This new raid tier bring us new hunter gear (of course!) but brings more things than that: awesome dragon mounts (I bet http://ptr.wowhead.com/spell=110051 as the meta), the return of a raiding gun and the weird absence of raid level bows (looks like Blizzard can’t make both elves/trolls and dwarfs happy). Dragon Soul loot will be interesting, even our stat stick will be awesome!

Edit: A bow has been found!

Disclaimer

This is still PTR content, so it’s subject to change at any moment. The source of almost all gear is already datamined, however, the stats in this patch can be a little weird with our tier 13 bonuses. I will be highlighting items with our beloved crit/haste combo but maybe mastery can take the lead over haste this time with the 4 pcs bonus.

Wyrmstalker’s T13 Set

Our new tier set deserves a first mention http://ptr.wowhead.com/itemset=1061#., not only has got incredible bonuses but also comes with nine red sockets! Yes, nine (9)!! All of them with an agility bonus. The aesthetics are very good so I doubt transmogrification will be prevalent here (though tier 2 fits the atmosphere too).

The two-piece set bonus of this beauty rocks, BM Hunters will like the bonus most, second SV and then MM to be in danger of focus capping. The better your focus control is, the more DPS you will gain.

The four-piece bonus gives Arcane Shot the chance to proc a mini bloodlust (30% haste/15 seconds) for you and your pet. BM is going to have the biggest adventadge on this as their rotation gives room for a lot of focus dumps, SV may have difficulties for their short cooldown on Explosive Shot and MM will have the toughest time maintaining the rotation. This could possibly be the end of using Aimed Shot as a focus dump. With the Haste and set bonuses the risk is focus capping a lot and therefore losing dps.

Now the loot: Ready, Set, Goat!

Head

For our head slot both are great choice, the second one is the most awesome being a tribute to someone who has spent many hours of their life helping the hunter community. The head token drops from Warmaster Blackhorn, and the Zeherah’s Dragonskull Crown from an unknown source at this time.

 Neck

This will make a cameo appearance but location unknown at this point, with a hit/haste combo is not that terrible.

Shoulders

Seems our only choice for the slot (along the valor point option I suppose), but don’t worry it’s very good, with a crit/haste combo, two red sockets and a sweet 20 agility bonus I doubt we can ask more.

Back

Very good but with a fatal flaw: it doesn’t have gem slots. Even the heroic version of this does not compare to http://ptr.wowhead.com/item=71415, so I suppose at least one gem slot will be given before the patch hits.

Chest

The token comes from Ultraxion, the fifth boss in the raid. Looks like the choice fall upon your hit rating, the 3 sockets looks competitive versus our second choice even with hit capped though.

Wrist

Our best bet are the Hunter-Killer bracers with a crit/haste combo and two sockets, but the other two can tide you over. Looming Darkness drops from Ultraxion as our chest token and Dragonbelly looks like a valor point option for people under the hit cap.

Hands

The sporebeard gauntlets (with that name I can only think dwarves using sporebats) are our best option and pretty easy to get as it drops from Morchok the first boss in Dragon Soul.

Waist

The Belt of the Beloved Companion says hunter loot from it name to it text. It’s drops from the 6th boss, Warmaster Blackhorn, of the new raid.

Legs

Both options are pretty close to each other. The token drops from the 4th boss in Dragon Soul and the second from leatherworking. That said, aim for your tier.

Feet

The treads are the clear winner here, it drops from the second boss and much better than the boots.

Fingers

Grasping Mouths drops from the second boss too and it’s much better than the loop.

Trinket

Amazing options! We have to test those on paper to see who is better. The vial is a clearly winner of a slot in our gear, 18k of damage is more than an Arcane Shot crit and 458 agility is a good bonus. Starcatcher Compass seems the likely second option but with the crazy amount of focus we have to spend in this tier maybe the wrath (read comments) something else will be better.

Melee weapon

Our BiS without doubt it’s Kiril. Amazing as is, it’s a drop from the last fight with Deathwing (Madness!). It gives a stacking buff of 107 agility and it’s stack up to 1070 agility! It also increases our size, sadly gnomes will not be given the option to grown.

This is also our last tier with melee weapons, so love them before they are gone.

Ranged weapon

Now the good part, Dragon soul marks the return of a raiding guns and with great style! Both Ruinblaster Shotgun and Vishanka (?) will drop too from the last fight with Deatwing, the shotgun has two secondary stats and less weapon damage while Vishanka will have more weapon damage but without second stats. Most likely the gun will be the  BiS unless Blizzard change it to a crossbow or a tank gun.

Miscellaneous

A very cool mount, no doubt it’s hunter loot.
