Tabana: Ranged weapons are now showing up on hunters’ backs in the Mists of Pandaria beta, fulfilling Ghostcrawler’s promise from last week. I pulled out the bows I had in my bank and took a few screenshots to give you an idea how they will look. Unfortunately, my void storage didn’t transfer so I can’t show you the guns and crossbows I have stashed there. I can show you the crossbow from DS that I currently have equipped, and I purchased a cheap gun from the AH just to give you an idea how guns will look. There are a few clipping issues with boots, shoulders, and night elf ears, but overall I think the weapons look fantastic.
Ancient Bone Bow

Black Bow of the Betrayer

Green quality gun

Horrifying Horn Arbalest

Ironfeather Longbow

Rhok’delar, Longbow of the Ancient Keepers

Thori’dal, The Stars Fury

Vengeful Gladiator’s Longbow

If any of you were wondering, the answer is yes, they do show when you’re mounted.

I’m sure I’m in the minority on this one, but I was hoping this wouldn’t happen. I hate the clipping. OH GODS THE CLIPPING! I never show my cloak at this point because it looks weird to have a staff/polearm on top of it and it’ll be the same with a ranged weapon. But now that our shoulders, ears, beards, etc. are going to clip the weapons, too, I’m hoping we get an option to hide it like we do with cloaks/helms. Oh well.
The ear clipping in particular looks rather silly, but it’s still beta and this is the first pass on showing sheathed ranged weapons. If it annoys you I’d suggest posting in the Beta Bugs forum and perhaps it will be fixed for launch.
I like it. :) Now I can delete my “Autosheath”-addon!
Your hunter looks very similar to mine, at least from the backside. It was always curious how Ancient Bone Bow from Scholomance looked better than Striker’s Mark from Magmadar, one of the toughest bosses in MC back in its time.
